Local and Federal authorities have arrested a person wanted for attempting to firebomb a synagogue in Essex County Sunday.
Mayor Michael Venezia made the announcement around 5 p.m. this evening on his Facebook page.
“I’m proud to announce that the suspect in the Temple Ner Tamid firebombing is in the custody of the FBI and Bloomfield Police Department,” Mayor Venezia said.
Mayor Venezia would not release. additional details on the arrest.
According to officials, on January 29, at 3:19 a.m., a male suspect approached the front door with a Molotov cocktail.
The suspect lit the cocktail and then threw it at the front door of the house of worship.
No severe property damage was reported.
