Police recovered multiple shell casings at the scene of a shots-fired incident in Newark's South Ward Friday afternoon.
A ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of a shooting in the area of 344 Schley Street shortly before 3:45 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found evidence of a shooting and a vehicle struck by bullets at that location.
Police say no one inside the car was injured, and the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
