West Caldwell Bus Driver Arrested for Driving Under the Influence After Crashing Into Building

At 8:39 am on January 27, the West Caldwell Police Department was dispatched to a report of a school bus leaving the roadway and colliding into a residence on Passaic Avenue, just north of Terrace Place.

Upon arrival, officers located a full-sized school bus into the north side of a ranch style Passaic Avenue home.

 The driver, who was the sole occupant of the bus, was assisted out of the vehicle.  He was treated for minor injuries on scene and refused further medical attention.

Officers cleared the residence, confirming that the home was unoccupied at the time of the collision.

An on scene investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Anthony R. Stuckey, 37,  Newark, for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Stuckey was found to have recently dropped off students at the West Caldwell Tech High School.

Stuckey was later charged with the following:

-Fifteen (15) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child

-DUI with Minor Passengers

-Operating a Commercial Vehicle with a BAC of .04% or higher

-Driving While Intoxicated  

-Operating a Commercial Vehicle without proper CDL (School Endorsement)

-Failure to Maintain a Lane

-Careless Driving

-Reckless Driving
