Detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the motive behind a shooting that injured a person in Paterson Monday night.
Police were dispatched to the vicinity of Chamberlain and Berkshire avenues to investigate reports of shots fired around 8:47 p.m.
Units arrived and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but after canvassing the scene, no victims were located.
While cops searched the area, St. Joseph's Hospital officials notified police that a gunshot victim had entered the emergency department.
Officers believe the victim was shot at the Chamberlain Street crime scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
No arrests have been reported.
