Fire crews in Newark battled a raging two-alarm fire at a house in the city's West Ward.
The fire department received a call at around 2 a.m. regarding a house fire at 279 South 18th Street. When fire crews arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the house. Homes next to the fire were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire quickly became two-alarms as fire began to extend to other homes. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control.
EMS treated one person at the scene for minor injuries. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
