Police in Newark took an alleged stolen car thief into custody after a foot pursuit through a South Ward neighborhood Wednesday night.
The brief chase happened around 10:20 p.m. in the area of Clinton Place and Shepard Avenue.
Police attempted to get the driver to pull over after a vehicle registration check indicated that the car was stolen.
The driver bailed from the car in the residential neighborhood but was captured by Newark Police Criminal Intelligence units.
No physical injuries were reported.
