The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office detectives are looking for suspects responsible for shooting and severely injuring a man in a wheelchair Sunday evening.
It happened around 5 p.m. in the area of Park Avenue and East 22nd Street.
An EMS unit was flagged down to assist a motorist with a person inside the vehicle who had been shot on Park Avenue.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital and listed in life-threatening condition.
Police said a ShotSpotter device activated at the shooting and detected about eight rounds of gunfire shortly before the victim made it to the hospital.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was recuperating from a previous shooting when two males approached him while he was sitting in his wheelchair and began firing at him.
The suspects remain at large.
