On Saturday morning, four people suffered severe injuries in a house fire in Newark’s West Ward.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 43 Valley Street after recording reports of a house fire.
Firefighters arrived and found smoke coming from a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed house with trapped occupants.
Crews struck a second alarm and stretched lines before reaching the upper floor, where they found victims severely injured.
Two of the four victims were administered CPR before being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Firefighters controlled the fire in under an hour, with the cause under investigation.
