Jersey City Police chased a vehicle into Newark that was occupied by several suspects wanted for an early morning shooting Wednesday.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired in the 20's block of Greenville Avenue around 1:20 a.m.
Responding officers were alerted of a white Toyota Camry occupied by several; masked suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police caught up with the vehicle and attempted to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop.
The driver sped through Newark's East Ward, losing police during the chase.
Officers patrolling the area of 178 Johnson Avenue in Newark’s South Ward located the unoccupied car just after 2 a.m.
Jersey City Police collected multiple shell casings at the scene, but no injuries were reported.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
