More than a half-dozen Newark Police officers focused their attention on the lobby of a building during an investigation into a violent robbery in the city’s North Ward this morning.
It happened around 10:10 a.m. at the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Bloomfield Place.
Police were called to the scene to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress. When they arrived, cops found an injured woman who had been robbed at that location.
A female suspect reportedly approached the woman and demanded personal possession before repeatedly striking the victim in her head and face.
The suspect took the woman’s purse before running from the scene.
An EMS unit was requested for the emotionally distressed victim, who suffered a non-life threatening head injury.
The suspect remained at large.
