Newark authorities request the public’s help with identifying a suspect and locating the vehicle he used to steal tools from a van he broke into on December 21.
According to Newark Police, officers responded to a call about a burglary that occurred at approximately 3:03 p.m. in the 100 block of Court Street.
Police say the suspect was captured on surveillance video pulling up next to the parked van in a Hyundai Sonata and was pictured with a fictitious NJ Tag (X743847).
After exiting the Hyundai, the suspect damaged the van’s locks on the passenger side door and removed several tools he had placed into the vehicle he was driving.
Officials say the suspect drove away, traveling eastbound on Court Street towards Martin Luther King Boulevard.
In addition to the fake tag, the older model Hyundai has a white sticker on the rear driver’s side window.
