On December 19, Neil Henry, 31, of Brooklyn, New York pled guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, and Resisting Arrest, Mays Landing authorities said.

According to officials, Henry admitted that on August 28, in Atlantic City, he shot a man with a handgun and fled on foot from uniformed police officers who attempted to apprehend him two days after the shooting incident.

The man’s injuries were non-life threatening, officials say.

At the time of his arrest, Henry was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber handgun which ballistics analysis confirmed he used during the shooting authorities report.

According to officials, under the terms of the plea, Henry is expected to be sentenced to an aggregate term of five years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to an 85% period of parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act.

Officials said that Henry is also subject to a mandatory period of incarceration under the Graves Act and will serve a concurrent term of 18 months in New Jersey State Prison for Resisting Arrest.

The Violent Crimes Unit of the Atlantic City Police Department conducted this investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutors Chris D’Esposito and Ryan Jones of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Henry is scheduled to be sentenced on January 30, 2023.
