Atlantic City authorities arrested a 17-year-old juvenile from Atlantic City on Monday morning in connection to a murder.
According to Atlantic County officials, the minor was initially charged on December 8 with first-degree Murder, first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and second-degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose.
Officials say the juvenile’s co-defendant, Oquan Thomas, 18, also of Atlantic City, was charged and arrested on December 6 for the same offenses.
According to Atlantic City Police, on Monday, December 5, at approximately 10:52 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert notification at 655 Absecon Boulevard.
Police say officers responded to find Atlantic City resident Timothy Council Jr., 27, wounded by apparent gunfire.
Mr. Council was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say an autopsy determined his cause of death to be a single gunshot wound and the manner of death was homicide.
