Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for robbing a business in Newark’s North Ward Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 2:20 p.m., police responded to Ecuador Express, located at 730 Mount Prospect Avenue, to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Upon arrival, police learned that a Hispanic male suspect entered the establishment armed with a weapon and announced a robbery.
The assailant reportedly took an unknown amount of cash before running towards Grafton Avenue.
Police believe the suspect wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants during the robbery.
Newark’s North Ward had multiple business armed robberies in December that are now under investigation.
Police reported no physical injuries in the Ecuador Express robbery.
