Passaic County officials are investigating a shooting incident that left a senior man dead in Hawthorne Saturday evening.
Officers responded to reports of shots fire that rang at an address in the 70's block of Sherman Avenue around 7:05 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found the severely injured elderly male suffering a single gunshot wound at that location.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Police believe the shooting was self-inflicted and no one else was involved in the incident.
The investigation is active.
