On Thursday, November 17, members of the United States Marshals Service of New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of Jovahn Horne in Jersey City, authorities reported.
According to authorities, Roger Pickett Jr., of Newark, is charged with Murder, as well as Murder During the Commission of a Robbery; Inflicting Bodily Injury while Committing a Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Officials say that he was arrested at his residence on Evergreen Avenue in Newark and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
On Tuesday, November 1, at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired on Dales Avenue officials report.
Upon arrival, responding officers located a male victim, authorities reported – later identified as Jovahn Horne, 23, of Tenafly – in the area of 74 Dales Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the HCPO’s Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the arrest and investigation.
