Today,  The Honorable Mayor Andre Sayegh, The Honorable Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.,  Superintendent Darren Boch, and the Passaic County Commissioners will announce that Paterson will receive funding for the construction of a new footbridge at the Great Falls National Historical Park.

According to Paterson officials, The National Park Service is providing $300K, while the Passaic County Open Space, Farmland, & Historic Preservation Trust Fund will fund $200K.

The iconic footbridge, providing visitors with an up-close view of the 77-foot-high waterfall, was closed in 2021 due to safety concerns.

Officials said the structure allowed visitors to walk between the two sections of the Great Falls, Overlook Park and Mary Ellen Kramer Park.

Paterson officials said The Great Falls National Historical Park receives approximately 300,000 visitors yearly.
