Police are investigating the cause of a crash on the Garden State Parkway that left several people injured overnight. The multi-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near exits 142-143 in Irvington.
EMS transported a total of five victims to University Hospital in Newark suffering various injuries. At least two of the injured was reported to be critical.
The crash caused heavy delays on the highway as rescue crews tended to occupants trapped in vehicles.
