Newark Police are looking into circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in the city's lower West Ward Saturday afternoon.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of a physical altercation in the area of 208 South 10th Street shortly before 12:50 p.m.
While responding to the scene, police were advised to use caution after headquarters were informed that gunfire had erupted at the location.
Several police units arrived and found ballistic evidence, but after canvassing the neighborhood, no victims were found.
Newark Major Crime Shooting team was called to the scene to assist in the active and ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been reported.
