Another week-long series of shots fired incidents in Newark had police of a shooting in the city's South Ward Saturday morning.
In the incident, a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of just under a dozen rounds of gunfire near 88 Shephard Avenue around 4:20 a.m.
Newark Police units arrived at the scene and found a potential victim who reported that shooters arrived in the area and began repeatedly firing him during the early morning hours.
Police confirmed no injuries, but a crime scene unit was on the scene to collect shell casings and other evidence.
Officers are looking for a 2017 white Mercedes GLC bearing West Virginia with reported NJ license plate numbers "1VV608."
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
The City of Newark concluded the week with about a shooting per day, and at least one female victim shot dead in broad daylight.
No arrests have been reported in any of the shootings.
