According to RWJ Barnabas Health officials, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center was recently awarded Platinum Level recognition from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Workplace Partnership for Life (WPFL) Hospital Organ Donation Campaign.
All for its efforts to increase enrollment in the New Jersey state organ donor registry and to spread the life-saving message of organ and tissue donation.

Terry, Sr. MHA, MPH, FACHE, FHELA, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.
“As one of the top 15 heart transplant programs in the nation, with more than 1,100 heart transplants performed, and New Jersey’s only lung transplant program, we see the powerful impact that organ donation and transplant have on our patients and their families.”
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is one of nine RWJ Barnabas Health facilities to earn this national recognition for conducting awareness and registry activities between October 2021 and April 2022, prompting new donor registration even as they continued to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Since its inception in 2011, the WPFL Hospital Organ Donation Campaign has generated 630,000 registrations and united donation advocates at hospitals with representatives from their local organ procurement organizations, Donate Life America affiliates, and state and regional hospital associations.
RWJ Barnabas Health collaborates with The Sharing Network to leverage its outreach efforts.

Including New Jersey’s largest Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders; and the Children’s Heart Center which offers a complete range of medical and surgical treatments for the most complex cardiac abnormalities.
Children’s Hospital of New Jersey also includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a Level IV Regional Perinatal Center that offers New Jersey’s first Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy.
