Woman Struck, Killed by Car in Toms River

Toms River New Jersey

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene last night after she was struck by a vehicle in Toms River, authorities said.

Police responded to Fischer Boulevard around 7:41 p.m. yesterday, after the driver of the vehicle, Ryan Price, 22, dialed 911 to report the incident.

Price told police he was traveling northbound, when the pedestrian appeared in the vehicle’s path. Despite his efforts to swerved the vehicle to avoid striking the woman, the front passenger side struck her.

According to authorities, Price showed no signs of impairment, a search of his phone showed no evidence of use, and added that Price agreed to provide a blood sample for testing.

Initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Fischer Boulevard from the west side and might have walked right out in front of the truck.

Incident remains under investigation.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8 p.m.
