Authorities in Monmouth County are investigating the motive behind a shooting that seriously injured a man in Neptune City overnight.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 3600 block of NJ-33 around 12:17 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering a bullet wound in his chest.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and remained in serious condition, according to reports.
Police have not announced and arrest or a suspect description.
