The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was notified of a crash that killed a person and injured two others in Newark Saturday morning.
According to preliminary information, at approximately 3:33 a.m., police and EMS were dispatched to reports of a crash with injuries in the area of Route 1&9 north, Haynes and Bessemer Street.
When emergency responders arrived, they began CPR on a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person after a vehicle crashed and rolled over at that location.
All the victims were rushed to University Hospital, where the most seriously injured victim was pronounced dead.
The cause of the collision is under an active investigation.
