Paterson Cuts Ribbon on First, Only Classroom Supply Store

Paterson

Mayor Andre Sayegh and the owners of Beyond the Classroom Shop, Jayvon and Brittany Blackmon, will cut the ribbon on Paterson’s first and only classroom supply store on Wednesday, August 24.

Beyond the Classroom Shop was founded by the Blackmons through a desire to assist families during the pandemic.

While students were learning remotely at home, they found that families lacked educational materials like learning boards and workbooks.

Now, Brittany, a certified Kindergarten through 8th Grade teacher, provides these resources to the community and encourages families to make learning fun and engaging.

Shoppers can purchase games, posters, and flashcards and receive tutoring from certified teachers.

Beyond the Classroom also hosts events, college preparation workshops and provides professional development for educators.

The Back to School Sales Tax Holiday established by Governor Phil Murphy will waive New Jersey’s 6.625% sales tax on all back-to-school supplies from August 27 to September 5.

Items that can be purchased tax-free will include pens, notebooks, art supplies, textbooks, computers, and computer supplies, as well as sports and recreational equipment and bicycle helmets.

Beyond the Classroom Shop is located at 232 Vreeland Avenue in Paterson.
