The Essex County Sheriff's Department is looking into an aggravated assault incident that happened inside one of their parks in Newark Monday night.
Police were dispatched to the area of Clifton and 6th Avenues to investigate reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police found the victim, who reported that just under a dozen male suspects approached near Branch Brook Park and began beating him for an unknown reason.
One of the males reportedly produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim.
Police did not report serious injuries and the suspects remain at large.
