Belleville Man Arrested in Connection with Paterson Shooting

Passaic County officials announce that based upon an investigation, Daniel Jimenez, 37, of Belleville, was arrested in relation to a shooting that took place July 26, in the area of East 28th Street and 7th Avenue in Paterson. 

According to officials, Daniel Jimenez is charged with Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Luring.

Officials said that on July 26, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of E. 28th Street and 7th Avenue in Paterson on a report of shots fired. 

Upon arrival, the police located a potential crime scene, but no victim was found. 

According to county officials, shortly thereafter, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 26-year-old male Paterson resident arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson seeking treatment for non-fatal injuries. 

Based on the investigation, Daniel Jimenez was identified as the shooter.

Officials stated that on August 9, at approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department arrested Daniel Jimenez in the area of Washington and Overlook avenues in Belleville.
