Police found a male suffering a gunshot wound in a section of Newark's South Ward Wednesday morning.
Just before 2 a.m., police officers engaged in an investigation and pursuit of a suspect in the area of 257 Clinton Avenue found a male struck by gunfire.
According to reports, the injured male was transported to University Hospital suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm.
Police were reportedly chasing a set of thieves for stealing car tires from vehicles in the South Ward when they came across the gunshot victim.
Shell casings were recovered in the neighborhood.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
