UPDATE: State Police Investigate Crash that Caused Serious Injuries in Woodbridge

New Jersey State Police is investigating a crash that caused severe injuries on the New Jersey Turnpike on Monday night.

According to police officials, Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at approximately 11:20 p.m. on the Turnpike north on the outer roadway near milepost 89.9. in Woodbridge Township.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Ford Mustang was disabled in the right travel lane of the Turnpike north on the outer roadway. 

State Police said the Ford was disabled due to a prior hit and run motor vehicle crash. 

According to police, Isaiah Diaz, a 22-year-old male of Perth Amboy, was operating a BMW motorcycle on the north outer roadway in the area of milepost 89.9. 

The front of the BMW impacted the rear of the Ford before striking the left guardrail. 

As a result of the crash, Diaz was ejected from his vehicle, struck the left guardrail and sustained serious injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information available at the moment.
