Police in Newark's Central Ward were credited with recovering a weapon from a suspect late Monday night.
According to reports, officers patrolling the area of Central Avenue and 4th Street were informed of a possible person who had a gun around 9:30 p.m.
Police spotted the suspect and attempted to investigate further, but the assailant bolted away from the officers resulting in a brief foot pursuit along Central Avenue, reports said.
The suspect was captured in the area of 444 Central Avenue and police confiscated a gun without further incident.
No injuries were reported.
