Plainfield Police are investigating a shooting incident that sent a man to the hospital in New Brunswick early Sunday morning.
Officials at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center notified police when a male entered the emergency department suffering gunshot wounds shortly before 2:50 a.m.
During the investigation, New Brunswick Police notified Plainfield Police that the victim suffered his injuries in the 400 block of West 4th Street before coming to the hospital.
A crime scene unit arrived at the location and found shell casings, but no other victims were found.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
One other person was found at the scene suffering bullet wounds.
Sunday's shooting made it the fourth person struck by gunfire in Plainfield in just over 24-hours.
No arrests have been made.
