Officials said that a large water main break in Paramus impacted part of Hackensack Medical Center's water supply on Monday.
The water main break happened around midnight when a 36-inch main broke near the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Trinity Court Street, causing extremely high pressure to parts of the distribution system.
This caused several breaks in the system and water to flood several parking lots on Route 4, including damage to Kohls Department store.
Just before 4 a.m., officials at Hackensack Medical Center reported low to no water pressure at the hospital.
According to hospital officials, no operations or emergency services were severely impacted by the water main break.
Residents in neighboring towns around Paramus experienced low water pressure and were advised to boil water.
The cause of the break is under investigation.
