Newark Police officials request the public’s help with identifying a suspect who robbed and assaulted a victim on July 9.
According to police, officers responded to a call about a robbery that occurred around 2:22 a.m. at a residence on Houston Street.
Police said that the suspect rang the victim’s doorbell and when he answered the door, the suspect struck the victim in the face, causing him to be incapacitated.
After the attack, the suspect took the victim's cellphone and wallet and fled southbound on Houston Street.
According to police officials, he is described as a 5’7’’ Hispanic male with a light skin complexion, medium build, and facial hair.
He was wearing blue jeans, a baseball cap, white sneakers, and a grey colored sweatshirt with a hood.
Newark Police officials urge anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695- 8477).
All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
