Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said on Sunday, July 10, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit arrested Mr. Rogelio Rendon-Mejia, 42, of Hammonton, for committing a sex crime on a woman in West New York.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, the crime occurred in the early morning hours of July 10, 2022, following a gathering in an apartment on 51st Street.
The victim was not known to Rendon-Mejia and her 7-year-old son was present at the time the crime occurred.
Prosecutor Suarez said Rendon-Mejia is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
He was arrested at the West New York Police Headquarters and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit and West New York Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
