NJ State Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured three victims on a highway in Burlington County Saturday.
Officials said the crash was reported at 3:50 p.m. on State Highway 72 west at milepost 5.5 in Woodland Township.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on NJ-72, a Honda Accord was traveling west, and a Mercedes Benz was traveling west behind the Accord.
Police say in the area of milepost 5.5, a head-on collision occurred between the CRV and Accord.
According to police, the Mercedes Benz went off the road to the right and struck a tree.
The driver of the CRV, a 24-year-old male of Manahawkin and a 19-year-old female passenger sustained severe injuries.
Police said the driver of the Accord, a 26-year-old female of Matawan, also sustained serious injuries.
All three victims were airlifted to area hospitals.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
