UPDATE 10:47 a.m. The incident happened at an intake holding/processing station operated by Newark Police.
Essex County officials are investigating a stabbing incident at a youth correctional center processing location in Newark Sunday night.
According to preliminary reports, EMS units were requested to respond to the processing center located at 43-63 Dickerson Street shortly before 11 p.m.
Upon arrival, medical personnel found the victim suffering a stab wound at that location.
The injury was reported as non-life threatening and police made arrests in the incident that did not happen inside the jail.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
