A Kearny man was arrested this morning after he lead Belleville police on a two-town car chase that ended in Newark.
Police responded to 249 Hornblower Avenue for a report of motor vehicle theft in progress sometime after 4 a.m.
The suspect vehicle lead police from Hornblower Avenue to Bloomfield Avenue and Garside Street in Newark, where the driver lost control, striking a parked car.
He then fled on foot but was apprehended after a K-9 unit was used.
The suspect was later identified as Gerard Mccullum, 44, of Kearny.
Mccullum was charged with theft, burglary, possession of burglary tools, unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding, and resisting arrest, and was also issued five motor vehicle summonses, according to police.
He is being held on a $75,000 cash bail.
