Police Arrest Jersey City Man Accused of Stabbing His Wife to Death

A Jersey City man was taken into custody after police say he fatally stabbed his wife at their Long Street apartment.

Thomas J. McManus, 42, was charged late Monday night with stabbing his wife, who was later identified as 36-year-old Alnisha L. Jones, to death officials said.

Police responded to the second-floor Long Street apartment at approximately at 12:30 p.m., for an ambulance request. 

Upon arrival, police discovered Jones' body with multiple stab wounds.

She was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Sometime after 3 p.m. McManus walked into the Jersey City Police Department were he was then taken to the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.

McManus was charged with first-degree murder, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a knife, and third-degree possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose.

Bail was set at $350,000 cash.
