Police chased and then apprehended a suspect wanted for an armed robbery that occurred in Newark's West Ward on Tuesday.
The early morning incident happened in the 40's block of Tremont Avenue around 1:30 a.m.
Police were dispatched to the area to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress, and when they arrived, officers found the victim who reported being robbed at that location.
According to reports, officers canvassing the scene attempted to question a suspect who fled on foot but was captured on Chelsea Avenue.
Police have not confirmed if the suspect was armed with a gun.
An officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
