Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Michael Wierciszewski, 24, from Wanaque, has been indicted in connection to a domestic violence incident on November 24, 2021 that resulted in the seizure of multiple weapons from his residence, including an assault rifle and multiple destructive devices.
A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned an indictment charging Mr. Wierciszewski with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Terroristic Threats, Criminal Mischief, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of an Assault Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine, Possession of a Firearm Silencer, Possession of a Metal Knuckle, Creating a Risk of Widespread Injury or Damage, Possession of a Destructive Device and Possession of Explosives or Bombs for an Unlawful Purpose.
According to Prosecutor Valdes, on November 24, 2021, Mr. Wierciszewski was arrested for a domestic violence incident in which he assaulted the victim with a knife, threatened to kill that individual, and destroyed evidence related to the incident.
Following his arrest, law enforcement officers discovered what they believed to be a destructive device inside the home and evacuated the house.
Prosecutor Valdes stated that Officers subsequently located four different destructive devices among Mr. Wierciszewski’s belongings, including a pipe bomb, other explosives, manuals, and other items that could be used to construct destructive devices.
Officers also recovered an assault firearm, a firearm silencer, and a large-capacity ammunition magazine.
A criminal indictment is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
