Newark Police are searching for a suspect wanted for a shooting that injured three people in the city's South Ward on Thursday night.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter device that activated in the vicinity of 505 Elizabeth Avenue just before 11:17 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed at least one vehicle was struck by stray bullets and a person shot.
While officers secured and taped off a portion of Elizabeth Avenue, University Hospital officials notified police that two other individuals entered the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.
According to a preliminary investigation, the most serious of the injured suffered a bullet wound in the face.
All of the victims were in stable condition while the suspect remained at large.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
