One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on a highway in Hunterdon County on Thursday evening.
NJ State Police responded to reports of a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-78 near mile marker 12.1 in Union Township around 8:10 p.m
Upon arrival, police found an overturned tractor-trailer with at least one person trapped inside at that location.
One other person was airlifted to the hospital, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
The two left lanes of the eastbound portion of the highway remained closed as of 9:30 p.m. as the accident remained under investigation, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
