Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Frank Castro-Ramirez, 40, from Clifton, pled guilty to explicitly assaulting a minor.
Mr. Castro-Ramirez was arrested without incident on June 3, 2021, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
On May 28, 2021, the Clifton Police Department contacted the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office on a report of a minor being explicitly abused.
After that, Prosecutor’s Office Detectives interviewed the victim and multiple witnesses.
The victim reported being explicitly abused by Mr. Castro-Ramirez on numerous occasions at the minor’s home in Clifton between May 2019 and April 2021.
Mr. Castro-Ramirez was employed as a Clifton Police Officer at the time the victim reported the abuse.
On May 25, 2022, Mr. Castro-Ramirez pled guilty to Aggravated Explicit Assault.
At the time of his plea, Mr. Castro-Ramirez agreed to the forfeiture of his public employment.
Upon release from prison, Mr. Castro-Ramirez will be subject to the Special Sentence of Parole Supervision for Life and registration requirements pursuant to Megan’s Law.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 15, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
