Gunman Fires Nearly a Dozen Rounds of Bullets in Newark South Ward Community

EMS units are on the scene treating a person who had a panic attack after a gunman blasted nearly a dozen rounds in a neighborhood in Newark’s South Ward. 

Gunfire erupted near the intersection of Voorhees and Leslie streets around 7:28 p.m. 

When officers arrived, they found shell casings and a person in distress but not struck by bullets. 

Police taped off the area and searched for possible gunfire and property damage. 

The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
