Police have a crime scene established while officers investigate a shooting with a person injured in Newark’s South Ward at this time.
It happened just before 2 p.m. near the intersection of Bergen and West Runyon street.
Newark Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the South Ward community, and when they arrived, units found the victim struck by bullets.
The area is taped off while EMS assists the gunshot victim.
The condition of the victim could not be immediately confirmed.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
