Police officials in Newark are investigating a double shooting that sent victims to the hospital Wednesday morning.
According to police, at approximately 4:12 a.m., gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 45 Miller Street, sending several police units to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his back at that location.
After a brief search of the area, officers found a second male struck in his leg by gunfire.
Both individuals were rushed to University Hospital for treatment and are stable.
Police say a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of gunfire in the South Ward community.
The shooter fled the scene and remained at large.
