Police in Newark are searching for a suspect wanted for firing shots in a residential community on Wednesday morning.
According to police, residents in the vicinity of 355 South 9th Street dialed 911 after a gunman fired multiple rounds at unknown targets around 1:10 p.m.
Upon arrival, police officials notified local hospitals to be on the lookout for potential walk-in gunshot victims after searching the area and finding evidence that a shooting had occurred.
Police say a ShotSpotter device did activate during the shooting incident.
The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
