Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Plainfield this afternoon, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Wilson Valdez of Plainfield.
It was shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday when Plainfield Police Division units rushed to the 600 block of Berckman Street on a report of a shooting, according to the investigation.
Valdez, who had been working in a convenience store at the time of the incident, was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The death of Mr. Valdez remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division.
