Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Belleville Police Chief Joseph Rotonda have announced that authorities have identified the male, whose body was found in a creek, known as the Second River, on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
The victim has been identified as Roosevelt Padilla –Correa, age 67, of Newark, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.
Padilla-Correa’s body was found in the water not far from where his vehicle was located. The matter is still under investigation, but it appears that Padilla-Correa’s vehicle crashed into the water near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Mill Street on Tuesday evening, according to Fennelly.
The cause and manner of death are pending at this time. The investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force and the Belleville Police Department.
