A single-car crash killed a 2-year-old child and injured two others Wednesday morning on Route 287.
Police responded to Route 287 near exit 22 at approximately 9:02 a.m., where police found an overturned vehicle in a wooded area, police said.
Initial investigation reveled that the driver lost control of vehicle - unknown reason - swerved off the road striking a guard rail, re-entered road and once again swerved off, this time striking a tree causing vehicle to overturn.
The driver of the vehicle, 42-year-old Keisha Austin, was transported to Morristown Medical Center and remains in serious condition,
A passenger, Austin's 13-year-old grandson, was also transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
A second passenger, Austin's 2-year-old grandson, was pronounced dead at 9:52 a.m. by Dr. Reich from Robert Wood Medical Center.
Investigation is ongoing.
